About the Artist
Originally a native of the Washington, D.C., area, I graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, in Baltimore, MD, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
During a cross-country road trip after graduation, I fell in love with the landscape and open space of the west coast. I made the move to sunny San Diego in 2000, and have lived and worked as a Fine Artist and Graphic Designer here ever since.
I’ve shown at galleries and art events locally, nationally and internationally including; Society of Illustrators Gallery in New York, Gallery Ississ in Kyoto, Japan, Artwalk San Diego, San Diego State University, The Art Institute of California, Las Lagunas Gallery, The Expressive Arts Gallery, Ashton Gallery, and F1VEart Gallery,
STATMENT
Screen mesh, topographic maps, tissue paper and gold foil are some of the materials I use. I choose them for their inherent qualities; a semi-transparent surface, a systemic pattern. Their textures are granular and frosted or patterned with tiny halos. Their colors are rich, and sometimes luminous and metallic. Their structure, meshed and dimensional, have a system yet are unrefined. My collages are like markers, or maps to themselves to places I have traveled, real or imagined.
Destruction. Creation.
Deconstruction. Reconstruction.
Tear apart. Piece back together.
Collage is one of my favorite mediums. Taking disparate elements and combining them together to form a whole. My palette is already created and ready. They are lush with texture, color and patterns.
